Mowing Foreperson

Job description:
Hourly Pay Range: $8.00 to $11.00

Responsible for the field direction of a mowing crew to maintain customer’s lawn and beds properly with the times and materials allotted. Responsible for properly mowing, trimming and cleaning up after lawn mowing. Also curb and sidewalk edging and maintaining beds weeds free. Also deadheading, fertilizing and watering annuals and perennial flowers. Responsible for accurate daily completion of all required paperwork and route sheets. Responsible for proper maintenance and cleaning of all tools, equipment and vehicles assigned.

Requirements:
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
High School diploma or GED and 2 years industry experience.
Proficiency in horticultural skills to include:
Proper mower operation and practices
Proper trimmer operation and practices
Proper leaf blower and vacuum operation and practices
Identification of annual and perennial flowers and ornamental trees and shrubs.
Proper bed mulching
Proper leaf clean up practices
Proper bed edging practices
Valid drivers license with clean driving record for last 3 years
Proficiency in snow clearance and salt applications
Ability to know when lawn or plants look abnormal and warrant mentioning to landscape manager.
Proficient in safe truck and trailer operation.
West Virginia Applicator’s Technician license required.
CDL license Class A preferable.
Tractor/skid steer operation preferable.
West Virginia Certified Professional Horticulturist certificate preferred.

Human Skills:
Demonstrate ability to delegate to and manage others on crew.
Demonstrate ability to interact with customers.
Detail-oriented personality necessary.
Ability to set pace for crew.
Ability to get jobs done within budgeted times to acceptable standards.
Ability to train crew members.
Desire to learn new tasks and assume new responsibility preferable.

Landscape Foreperson

Responsible for the field direction of a landscape crew in completion of assigned duties within times and man hours allowed and of proper quality. Also responsible for daily completion of all required paperwork and route sheets. Responsible for proper maintenance and cleaning of all tools, equipment and vehicles assigned.

• Associate Degree in Horticulture or 2 years industry experience.
• Proficiency in horticultural skills to include:
• identification of shrubs, trees, perennials, annuals
• retaining wall installation (timber and dry laid stone and decorative concrete block)
• lawn installation
• step installation
• proper grading practices
• dry laid patio installation
• proper planting practices including tree staking/guying.
• Ability to identify and diagnose insect and disease problems on local trees, shrubs, flowers and lawns.
• Proficiency in safe truck and trailer operation.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record for last 3 years.
• Proficiency in snow clearance and salt applications.
• Proficiency in all power equipment needed to carry out above skills.
• CDL license Class A preferable.

Job description:
Hourly pay range: Based on Experience.

Experienced operator able to run the following: excavator, min-excavator, bulldozer, skidsteer, and tractor. Ability to set grades.
